Montana's newest online news site and newspaper, the Flathead Beacon, is making a splash this summer with an editorial staff of mostly UM journalism grads and senior print intern Jake Grilley. So far Jake has written about Kalispell's old opera house, the area's expanding network of running trails and a rookie stock car driver's first race.Meanwhile, print senior Karen Plant reports that she's having a blast writing features at the weekly Belgrade News. Her favorite so far is a story on Belgrade High's principal, who spends his summers working as a smokejumper.
